    It’s Furano’s greatest summer attraction: the lavender fields seem otherworldly against the romantic blue Hokkaido sky. Best viewed at Farm Tomita from late June to mid-July,  these flower fields are the perfect backdrop for a relaxing day sipping iced lavender tea at their café.

    Just beside the famed blue pond, Shirahige Waterfall is the product of a hidden underground river flowing over dark stone. The water produces a similar icy blue effect as the nearby blue pond; the waterfall is best viewed in winter.

    Located on the other side of the Furano Valley, Shirogane Blue Pond is located high in the mountains in neighbouring Biei. It’s easily accessible by car. The presence of minerals in the water creates a soft silky-blue hue that is truly picture-perfect.
